Case Studies for Health

Change Behavior

Challenge. An agency was uncertain how best to get the U.S. population to change their food preparation habits. The client had a campaign to teach the public food handling safety. The effort was ineffective in demonstrating measurable desired behavior changes in practicing good, clean preparation and cooking of food.

Solution. TBG Resultants℠ utilized social marketing tools and strategies to help develop processes that would provide a more definitive means to evaluate new and desirable food safety behaviors. The solution was to: educate agency leaders about social marketing; select a specific segment of the population (pilot group); target awareness and education to the pilot group; and measure behavior changes in the group.

Impact. Survey results showed statistically valid behavioral change in the pilot group; the agency received an award for this success; the study was touted as a distinctive benchmark in reaching and changing public behavior; and the results are published on the web.

Administrative Guidance

Challenge. The client wanted to provide administrative guidance in targeted subject matters to improve the effectiveness of research facilities usage in the organization.

Solution. TBG facilitated the design and development of four training courses to educate the health community on getting work done in a leased facility; moving labs and personnel efficiently; managing construction and maintenance projects effectively; and understanding how to request and fund space requirements.

Impact. The training courses were developed to provide guidelines for the administrative and laboratory community. TBG received the highest customer service ratings of "exceed expectations" for responsiveness, proficiency, results, and overall satisfaction.

Conversion to Performance Metrics

Challenge. The client wanted to improve the performance and operation of their computer facilities.

Solution. TBG managed the agency's computer facilities by collecting and producing daily reports from 900 field inspectors across the U.S. It was our responsibility to manage the facility 18 hours a day and deliver reports when needed.

Impact. TBG performance measurement specialists were instrumental in supporting the conversion to performance metrics and won an agency award in 2001 - Disadvantaged Business Contractor of the Year for outstanding support and service.
