Product and Program Management

What is it?
The systematic oversight and coordination of people and technology in producing or delivering goods and services to customers (internal and external).

What Can It Be Used For?
All products and services have costs associated with their storage and movement to customers.  Effective management helps minimize costs and optimizes timely and efficient delivery to required locations, which, in turn, result in customer satisfaction.

TBG Expertise

  1. TBG managed the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service’s computer facilities (collecting and producing reports daily from 900 field inspectors across the U.S.)  It was our responsibility to manage the facility 18 hours a day and to deliver reports as needed.  TBG performance measurement specialists were instrumental in supporting the conversion to performance metrics, winning an agency award with the USDA, FSIS – Contractor of the Year in 2001.
  2. TBG team was tasked to study and recommend product and program management changes for the USDA, Office of Operations’ (OO) warehouse and printing facilities.  Our team evaluated the technology, personnel, customer needs, and conducted a benchmark study before making recommendations to consolidate, divest, and to change equipment and technology to reduce costs and improve Returns on Investment in helping USDA, OO serve its many agency customers.  Over $1.5 million in savings was projected without significant personnel changes.
  3. TBG staff members have been involved in the management of one Federal program for the past 15 years, and another one for 2 years.  In these latter programs, the assignment has been to set up conferences and meetings, to negotiate venues, meeting needs, staffing, and communications, to move healthcare consultants around the country and the world, and to support their onsite needs, including managing their presentation materials.
