Creating Consensus Training
Getting everyone to agree to a common idea and direction can be a challenge. This session provides participants the critical tools to efficiently and effectively develop team agreement. All team members will benefit from this session.

  • ‘Compromise’ and other misconceptions about consensus
  • Professional secrets about consensus building
  • Skills and behaviors used in facilitating a consensus-building session
  • Four-step process for reaching consensus
  • Power-listening to gain agreement that facilitates consensus
  • Deadlock-breaking tools and consensus by deadline
  • Modeled practice of new skills using participant-derived case studies

  • Plan and manage consensus-building sessions
  • Understand and use the four-step consensus-building process
  • Learn and practice new tools and strategies leading to consensus
  • Recognize the high trust and communications required to be successful
  • Learn from each other while practicing consensus building

  • Workbook with references and graphics
  • Approximately 35% of the time is in the presentation mode
  • Client-based case studies, supported by individual and group activities and exercises, serve to reinforce the lessons

Course Length
